Continuing Instruction Courses for Commercial Pesticide Applicators

Welcome!

Continuing Instruction Courses for Commercial Pesticide Applicators Continuing Instruction Courses (CIC's) are designed for who desire to renew their Commercial Pesticide Applicator's Certificate by attending a class each year, as opposed to renewing by taking tests once every three years. CIC's are for applicators who are currently certified; if the certification has expired, testing is required for renewal. Applicators who are certified in multiple categories must attend a CIC approved for each category each year to avoid testing. If an applicator misses a CIC in one or more categories (but not all categories for which he/she is certified), he/she will be required to retest only in the categories where a complete record of CIC's does not exist. Applicators who attend no CIC's will be required to take the full complement of tests to renew their certificates. Many CIC's are approved for more than one category; this is especially true for categories that are closely related, such as 1A and 1B or 3O and 3T.

If your certificate expired on December 31, 2007, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attended a CIC in 2005, 2006, and 2007. If you missed one or more years, you will need to take the test to renew. If you have not received renewal information from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, contact them immediately.

If your certificate expires on December 31, 2008, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attend(ed) a CIC in 2006, 2007, and 2008. If you miss(ed) one or more years, you will need to take the test to renew.

If your certificate expires on December 31, 2009, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attend(ed) a CIC in 2007, 2008, and 2009. If you miss(ed) one or more years, you will need to take the test to renew.

If your certificate expires on December 31, 2010, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attend a CIC in 2008, 2009, and 2010. If you miss one or more years, you will need to take the test to renew.

All of the above assumes the law does not change between now and then, of course.

Opportunities in 2008 follow. All programs listed below qualify for category 10. All will be video in most county offices unless otherwise noted. Check with your local office to determine if it will be hosting the video.
