1998 Manure Management Demonstrations

by Angela Rieck-Hinz, extension program assistant, Department of Agronomy

This summer and fall will provide many opportunities for producers interested in learning more about manure management. On August 27, 1998, the Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems Department will host a field day that showcases a wide range of manure application and handling equipment. The field day will be located at the new Livestock, Environment and Building Research Center located on the east side of the Agronomy and Agricultural Engineering Research Farm, 6 miles west of Ames on Highway 30. Equipment demonstrations will begin at 9:30 am and 1:00 pm. For more information please contact Jeff Lorimor, Agricultural Engineer at 515-294-9806.

In addition, ISU Extension crop and ag engineering field specialists are hosting field days throughout the state to demonstrate agronomic uses of  manure for corn and soybean production. These demonstrations are implemented on producers' farms and incorporate the producers' normal management practices as part of the demonstrations.

For more information on each field day, please call the contact person associated with each demonstration as listed in the table. The table can be accessed on the following website and will be updated throughout the following months.
