Emerald Ash Borer

The emerald ash borer (EAB), a new exotic insect pest from Asia, has become established in the Midwestern United States. Although not currently found in Iowa, a cooperative state and federal effort has developed the "Iowa Emerald Ash Borer Readiness Plan". Check out this and other information about this pest that threatens Iowa's forests. Information about the spread of EAB is also available in Spanish.

A number of training sessions are being scheduled across Iowa to provide information about EAB

The program "Preparation for the Emerald Ash Borer in Iowa" was Webcast on Thursday, March 15, 2007. The program covered topics such as EAB identification, life cycle and current locations; Iowa resources threatened, foreseeable regulatory actions and legal implications of EAB in Iowa; key components of EAB response; response strategies of impacted stakeholders; and 10 ways to prepare for the arrival of EAB. Presentations from the program are available for viewing in PDF format.
