Farmland rental rates show continued strength in 2012

Anyone who is involved with the rental market for Iowa farmland knows that rental rates have been pushed significantly higher by the favorable corn and soybean prices that farmers have enjoyed since 2010. This trend continued in 2012. The Cash Rental Rates for Iowa 2012 is now available.

Master Gardener Summer Webinar Series "Garden Goodness" Announced

The Iowa Master Gardener program is once again offering a series of summer webinars. The 2012 series titled "Garden Goodness" will be hosted by Iowa State University Extension MonroeCounty office on the fourth Tuesday of the month, May through August. Each session will provide information about vegetable gardening, from a variety of perspectives.

Troy Troopers Elect Officers

The Troy Troopers 4-H Club recently elected their officer team for the 2011-2012 4-H year.
From Left to Right: Kristyn Garver-Secretary, Amber Bachman-Historian, Colton Shull - Recreation, Bradley Martinez - Recreation, Kylie Peterson-Vice President, Mikayla VandenBerg - President, Katie Dyson - Reporter, Andy Henderson - Recreation, and Cody Wynn - Treasurer.
The 4-H club is planning their annual Christmas Event scheduled for Monday, January 2nd beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church. The group is open to all youth grades 4th - 12th. This would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in joining this fantastic youth group! Newsletter Helps Parents Help Kids Become Better Learners

When weekends, school breaks and summer are added together, kids spend many hours outside of school walls. How this time is spent affects their growth and development, as well as their success at school. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offers a monthly newsletter during the school year, September through May, to help parents help their children become better learners.

Monroe County NEST Program

The NEST Program is a free program, which helps pregnant mothers preparefor the arrival of their baby and mothers of children up to 5 years of age. The program encourages early entry into the healthcare system, education and awareness.

New Dietary Guidelines Released

Every five years the USDA and Health and Human Services update and release the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. New Dietary Guidelines encourage more fruits and vegetables and less sodium.

4H Food Club's Community Service Project
