10/12/2015- Spanish ServSafe - AD
8-hour food safety certification course taught in Spanish by Emilio Estrada. The course is administered through the National Restaurant Association. The course meets the Certified Food Protection Manager requirement.

Is it the flu or foodborne illness? How does food become unsafe? Learn how to protect children from foodborne illnesses. Identify risk for foodborne illnesses. Differentiate non-hazardous and potentially hazardous foods. Recognize food-handling errors that can make food unsafe.

The Mormon Trail K-6th grade student will taste pears this month. We will learn their nutritional value and how, when and where they grow. We will do a JAMmin minute and talk about healthy eating and exercise.

10/14/2015- Just a Bite - Managing Food Allergies in a Childcare Setting
What are the most common food allergens? What are the current laws/regulations pertaining to the food labeling of potential food allergens? Learn the signs and symptoms of food allergies and common food allergens for children. Practice altering menus to avoid food allergens and reading labels to identify food allergens.
