The ISU Campus Community Partnership for Health is established as a community-based coalition focused on promoting healthy lifestyles in Ames and surrounding central Iowa communities. The collaboration is intended to create mutually beneficial arrangements between the University and community-based organizations interested in health.
Programming is coordinated through the Nutrition and Wellness Research Center (www.nwrc.iastate.edu), located in the research park off of Airport Road in South Ames (see map). The planned work of the partnership will involve campus programming as well as initiatives designed to reach community, school, worksite and clinical settings.
The partnership will be guided by principles from a national organization focused on promoting effective campus-community partnerships (see www.ccph.info). Service learning is a recommended programming strategy for these partnerships. See the Student Information section for details about service learning and to learn how to get involved.
