What is Iowa ACTIVE Life?
Iowa Active Life(http://www.iowaactivelife.org/) is a state partnership with the national ACTIVE Life Movement. We have partnered with the national ACTIVE Life group (http://www.activelifehq/) to help spark social change for health. ACTIVE Life mission is to make healthy the norm by generating a persistent demand for healthy living among all sectors of society. ACTIVE Life is not a program or an initiative but a platform designed to enlist and equip people and places to build and sustain healthy communities. The vision of Iowa Active Life is to establish Iowa as the healthiest state in the nation. Join us in actively promoting Demand Healthy Week across Iowa.

How Does ‘Demand Healthy Week’ Work?
The Demand Healthy Week is the evolution of the 2010 Make the Movement Day (MMD.) This day-long initiative Make the Movement Day demonstrated the powerful effects of what can happen when an energetic and committed community works together. By the end of the day, nearly 90,000 healthy Moments had been organized and shared in 43 states. MMD participants of all ages took part in healthy, active Moments like school-wide health marches, healthy office picnics and community-wide run/walks.

During Demand Healthy Week 2011(May 2-8), people and places across the country will be challenged to create healthy groups and community projects, consume healthy products from associated Allies and call for healthy change in their communities.

To date, no state has figured out how to systematically reverse the obesity epidemic. Why not Iowa – Why not now? By partnering together we can all accomplish more.
