Summer Food Service Shortcourses

Summer short courses have been offered for Iowa school foodservice managers since 1948. The program was started by Majorie McKinley, PhD, former chair of the Department of Institution Management (Currently the Department of Apparel, Educational Studies and Hospitality Management) at Iowa State University. Today these courses are co-sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education and the Iowa State University Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (HRIM) Extension program.

Classes being offered in 2007 include: Manager's Update, Financial Management, Advanced Manager, Using the Food Buying Guide, and New Manager Orientation. The cost for taking the classes ranges from $25 to $100 per student.
