Iowa State University Faculty and Alums Active at School Nutrition Association Annual Conference in Nashville

Drs. Susan Arendt and Catherine Strohbehn took the top award for the Best Practice category of posters submitted at the Annual National Conference for School Nutrition Association. Their poster presented information about the new SafeFood Motivators Toolkit, developed as part of the USDA funded grant.

Strohbehn, Janet Johnson and Arendt also had a poster about dietetic internship rotations with child nutrition programs. In addition, Strohbehn presented posters with former graduate students Dr. Beth Rice (PhD); Jan Steffen (MS), and fellow faculty Dr. Lakshman Rajagopal. Arendt also presented with former graduate student Dr. Paola Paez (MS, PhD) also had five other posters.

Many ISU Alumni who are currently leaders within Child Nutrition Programs were at the conference and active with presentations and governance. Those serving in leadership roles were Drs. Katie Wilson, Janey Thornton, Diana Schweitzer and Beth Rice.

In addition to Dr. Strohbehn (with Bureau Team Nutrition Partner Patti Delger), ISU alums Drs. Julie Boettger, Diane Schweitzer, and Cyndie Story gave a presentation as did current doctoral student Lynette Dobson and former student Joann Robinette. 

Many other ISU alums and former students and faculty were in attendance and active at the meeting including Drs. Carol Longley(PhD), Barb Jirka (PhD), Mary Begalle (PhD), Kevin Roberts (BS, MS) and Jeannie Sneed along with Peggy Lee. Ann Feilmann (BS), state agency director and LaRae Doll, SNA Iowa president, were also active at the conference.
