Extension Specialists work with School Meal Programs in Iowa

HRIM Extension and Nutrition and Health Field specialists will be speaking at the School Nutrition of Iowa's six District Meetings across the state this spring. Extension specialists will provide information about development of a marketing plan for school meal programs and staff wellness. Child Nutrition Programs have the responsibility to provide nutritious food that is prepared safely and are an integral part of the school health environment. The research is clear that proper nutrition is fundamental to academic success. Nutrition education programs and school meal programs help students make healthy food choices.

A presentation by Dr. Yibo Woods, a Nutritionist with the Child Nutrition Division of USDA's Food and Nutrition Service will be given via ICN on April 16th from 3 - 5 p.m. She will discuss findings from the latest research about the school health environment and nutrition content of school meals.
