ServSafe® is the food safety certification course developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and is one of several recognized by the Conference on Food Protection. The 8-hour course concludes with a certification exam. Iowa regulations require the person in charge of a foodservice to have demonstrated knowledge of food safety principles; ServSafe® certification is one way to demonstrate this knowledge. Certificates are valid for five years. Participants receive a coursebook. Registration is $135.
SafeFood© Training
SafeFood is a 2-4 hour workshop that covers fundamental food safety information. The workshop can be tailored to specific needs of the operation. Participants receive educational materials and a thermometer. Registration fee varies between $25 and $35 per person.
Review the ServSafe® and SafeFood© Training calendar or contact the Nutrition and Health Specialist near you for more information.
