A quarterly publication
of Iowa State University Extension
Today's Ag brings ISU Extension to your TV Iowans have received Iowa State University Extension
information for 100 years first in person and print, and later
from other media, including video, radio and the World Wide Web. Now broadcast
television has joined the team. The half-hour weekly Todays Ag program
delivers ISU Extension information into homes in Iowa and the Midwest
on a regular basis. ISU Extension specialists can be seen during extension-produced segments
of Todays Ag, a regional agriculture program backed by four major
land-grant universities Iowa State University, the University of
Nebraska, South Dakota State University and North Dakota State University. Todays Ag, in its 11th year, received ISUs backing in early
2002. With that agreement, ISU Extension communication specialists became
involved in program planning and segment development. For example, Rich
Pope, ISU Extension entomology program specialist, has hosted ISU Extension
segments on Reiman Gardens, the World Food Prize and a series on organic
farming. Iowa State University Extension brings access to top national experts
to our program, said Carrie Law, Todays Ag host. It
adds an Iowa perspective to our program that is important to our regional
audience and allows for collaborative discussions of regional issues. Todays Ag is aired on KELO-TV Sioux Falls and KCAU-TV Sioux City
on Sunday at 10:35 p.m.; KOTA-TV Rapid City Saturday at noon; KTVO-TV
Ottumwa on Sunday at 6:30 a.m.; and KPTM-TV Omaha on Saturday at 5 a.m.
The program also is aired on RFD-TV Monday at 9 p.m., with repeats on Tuesday at 3 a.m., 9 a.m., and 3 p.m.; Saturday at 12 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m. RFD-TV is available on DISH Network (channel 9409), DIRECTV (channel 379 with elliptical dish), Mediacom cable (channel 78) and selected cable systems throughout the country.
