Get that degree through BLS Across Iowa

Do you know someone who never quite finished that bachelor’s degree? Do you have colleagues who could advance professionally if they could just complete those academic requirements? But how will they finish if they can’t spend time on a university campus?

Iowa State University has teamed up with the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa to provide Iowans the opportunity to receive a Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) degree in a flexible program called BLS Across Iowa. Courses are being offered over the Iowa Communications Network (ICN).

BLS Across Iowa allows students to tailor the course work to their particular interests and goals while remaining in their home community, according to Susan Beadle, with the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Iowa.
Students will move through the set of courses as a group rather than individually. "Our hope is that they will support and motivate each other," Beadle said.

Extension’s Continuing Education and Communication Services schedules and coordinates the courses from Iowa State.
