Two National trips are available for eligible 4-H'ers to apply for through the state recognition process. Application and Interview on the Area and State level is required for National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference.  You can also participate in Citizenship Washington Focus Trip. 

 

National 4-H Conference
National 4-H Conference is a working conference.  Delegates attend workshops and discuss issues in teams to suggest future programming for 4-H on a national, state, and local basis.  Delegates meet with federal legislators on Capitol Hill to discuss the impact of 4-H and Extension programming in their areas.  Congress restaurant

The overall purpose of the National 4-H Conference is to provide meaningful involvement of representative groups of 4-H participants in program development at the national level.

 

National 4-H Congress
Congress delegates participate in educational workshops, large-group keynote sessions, team building workshops, cultural field trips, formal banquets, and community service. 

Other educational experience may include conflict resolution training, leadership development training, and cultural awareness workshops.

Recreational, social, and cultural activities will be vital components of the program.  The delegates annually participate in service projects throughout the Atlanta community as well.

Citizenship Washington Focus Trip

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF), a summer educational conference offered at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Md., gives 4-H youth the opportunity to explore, develop, and refine the civic engagement skills they need to be outstanding  leaders in their home communities and at the national level. Through sightseeing tours in the living classroom of Washington, D.C. and hands-on educational workshops, youth will learn about the history of our nation, the leaders who have shaped it, and how they can apply the leadership and citizenship skills they have learned at CWF when they return home.

 

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth, grades 10–12, from across the country. Every summer nearly 1,600 young people stay at the National 4-H Conference Center, near Washington, D.C., to participate in this week-long program.

 

Approximately 150 Iowa 4 H Youth will have the opportunity to attend this leadership program at the National 4-H Center. Participants learn the importance of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, field trips and social events.  2012 CWF Flyer
