Cook This! 4-H Culinary Challenge
New this year! The 2015 4-H Cook This! event will be incorporated into a healthy living track at the 4-H “And My World” Summer Camp held June 21-25 at the Iowa 4-H Center. All youth in grades 5-8 are welcome to attend.
The camp will provide youth the opportunity to further develop their nutritional knowledge and culinary skills through hands-on activities as they taste and prepare ethnic cuisines. Youth will explore new flavors while practicing leadership, citizenship and communication skills.
Through the 4-H healthy living camp youth participants will be able to:
Taste and create dishes using international foods and flavors.
Recognize the different types of food production methods and options for purchasing healthy foods.
Work in teams to practice safely preparing healthy dishes.
Demonstrate a global understanding of ethnic cuisines and the culture surrounding food.
Demonstrate an understanding of nutritional, social, emotional and physical well-being.
Due to the Cook This! event being integrated into the 4-H camp delivery mode a Cook This! event will not be offered as part of our Iowa State Fair special events this year. This is being done in an effort to provide more educational programming to youth in a more long-term setting.

Who can participate?
Teams are composed of three youth. At least one member of the team must be a 4-H member (it's easy to join 4-H!) Interested individuals are able to apply as an individual, partial or full team. We will combine applicants to make full teams whenever possible.
