Iowa Operation Military Kids
Operation: Military Kids (OMK) is the U.S. Army's collaborative effort with America's communities to support the children and youth impacted by deployment.
OMK's mission: increase community capacity to support youth of military families
OMK's goals:
- provide training on the deployment cycle to public agencies, schools, community, and youth-serving organizations
- assist communities in developing locally based community support networks
- provide educational, recreational, and social programs for military youth
- Speak Out for Military Kids – military and non-military teens trained to educate the public about the issues facing military kids
- Develop military kids’ communication skills to help them stay connected with deployed parents and strengthen their bond with their stay at home parent or guardian through use of the Mobile Technology Lab
- Develop programs/activities that are community based to support military families where they live.
