Clothing Selection
All participants (male or female) to qualify for participation in the state event should:
- Select and/or purchase an outfit that represents the 4-H’ers goal or intended use for the selected outfit.
- Have had individual planned or county experience(s) in choosing shopping alternatives, evaluating fit, quality and construction features, price and cost comparison.

Outfits may be selected and/or purchased from any source, including consignment shops, used clothing stores, etc. Clothing items which are home-sewn are not eligible unless the completed garment was purchased from a used clothing source. Clothing items which are custom sewn specifically for the participant are not eligible. (If questions, contact the program superintendents.)

Fashion Revue
All participants (male or female) to qualify for participation in the state event should:
- Have been enrolled in a 4-H Clothing project in the current 4-H program year.

Model a garment or outfit the entrant has constructed, hand-knitted, machineknitted, or crocheted during the current 4-H year.

A garment or outfit consisting of one to three pieces such as party clothes, tailored suits, vest, slacks, shirt, skirt, active sportswear and/or coats are acceptable as Fashion Revue entries.

Blouses, shirts, and sweaters are usually considered as garments. If they are used to complete an outfit, they may be constructed or selected.

All other accessories and undergarments may be constructed or selected.

$15 Challenge
All participants (male or female) to qualify for participation in the state event should:
- Purchase an outfit that represents the 4-H’ers intended use for the selected outfit.
- Have had individual or county experience(s) in choosing shopping alternatives, evaluating fit, quality and construction features, price and cost comparison.
- Outfits must be purchased at a garage sale, consignment store, or resale shop (i.e. Goodwill, Salvation Army, or other stores of this type.) (Hand-me-downs or clothing as gifts that were selected by the 4-H’er belong in Clothing Selection.)
- Cost of outfit must be $15 or less, not including shoes, accessories or undergarments.
- Receipt(s) MUST be turned in with the Report Form.

Service & Community
- Conduct a coat drive or mitten drive for schools or community groups.
- Teach children to sew on a button.
- Organize your club to make no-sew fleece lap blankets for a community nursing home or school.
- Help organize and publicize a community-wide garage sale day or weekend.
- Investigate whether a community clothing agency (Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.) needs help in sorting clothing.
Exhibit Ideas
- Take a fabric and explain what it's made of, care, and things it is used for.
- Explain how woven fabrics differ from knit or felted fabrics.
- What are some new fabrics and why were they made? (bulletproof vests, antibacterial, wicking, etc)
- Different ways to remove different stains.
- Poster on correct techniques for ironing a shirt.
- Inventory current wardrobe and figure out what you will need for change in season.
- How do you know if something fits right?
- What can you do with outgrown or worn out bule jeans?
- How do you recycle clothes?
- How do you set up a garage sale?
- What do you need to look for when shopping thrift stores?
- What can you do to add "detail to retail"?
