C6 Featured during Order of the Knoll Annual Dinner

Superhero C6AMES,Iowa -- Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Iowa NSF EPSCoR educational character, C6, and accompanying educational package were featured in a joint exhibit Oct. 4 at Hilton Concourse. The pre-dinner event introduced ISU Foundation Order of the Knoll members and guests to Iowa State science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) research and educational programs with 4-H Youth Development, ISU Extension and Outreach's youth program. Order of the Knoll is Iowa State's most prestigious donor recognition society.

Iowa NSF EPSCoR is Iowa’s National Science Foundation Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. EPSCoR is aimed at building research capacity and increasing competitiveness for the state of Iowa through investments in infrastructure and human capital.

Jay Staker, director of 4-H STEM youth programs with ISU Extension and Outreach, along with Iowa NSF EPSCoR external engagement graduate student Sara Parks, former external engagement intern Eric Debner, and bioenergy research graduate student Bernardo del Campo run the exhibit. The joint exhibit focused on showing how the ongoing research completed at the ISU Biorenewables Laboratory could be translated into K-12 educational materials. Order of the Knoll members and guests tried out the C6 web-based game and handled samples of feedstocks, bio-oil, and bio-char as part of the exhibit.
