Dogs

Schedule
Sunday, August 123
7:00 a.m. – Dogs may arrive (livestock pavilion)
7:00-8:30 a.m. - Check-in
8:30 – Dogs must be in
8:45 a.m. – Exhibitor meeting
9:15 a.m. - Dog Show

Q: Where can I park?
A: Dog exhibitors will receive a credential in their exhibitor letter that will be sent in late July. This “pass” will get your vehicle and dog on to the grounds. Upon arrival at the livestock pavilion, a Lot L parking pass will be offered for purchase at $6.00 each.

Q: How and where do I get checked in?
A: Exhibitors must check-in with their dogs at 7:00-8:30 a.m. in the livestock pavilion. Your class entries will be checked at that time and you'll receive a show catalog.

Q: What do I need for check-in?
A: Bring your current rabies vaccination record. It would be wise to bring your carbon copy of the 4-H dog identification forms with you to the fair in case there are questions.

Q: Will there be additional information provided once I get to the fair?
A: Yes, the exhibitor meeting will be immediately before the show where any scheduling changes will be announced.

Q: What about my exhibitor number and T-shirt?
A: Your exhibitor number and exhibitor's T-shirt, will be passed out during check in.

Q: What health requirements do I need to be aware of?
A: You must bring a current Rabies Certificate or an official certificate of veterinarian inspection with the rabies certificate number and date of vaccination listed. A veterinarian will be there to check this certificate and to examine your animal. If your female dog should come into season at the time of the show, you will need to leave her at home.

Q: What else do I need to bring?
A: Please plan for your dog's comfort during the day. Waits between classes can be long! Bring along your own water from home if possible - your dog will drink it better because it's familiar.

Q: Can I let my dog roam around?
A: No, your dog must be tied, on leash, or crated anytime you are not showing. If you don't bring a crate, you may want to consider bringing along a rug for your dog to lie on. It will help your dog stay cleaner and more comfortable. Special training collars (i.e. pinch collars, fancy collars, etc.) are prohibited in the ring.

Q: How will I know when it is my turn to participate in the 4-H Dog Show?
A: Multiple show rings will be running at the same time during the day. Read your catalog closely after check-in and take note of the times and locations of your classes. You are responsible for being at the ring when your number is called! Be aware that scratches or ring conflicts may affect the order of show that's printed in the catalog, so stay close to your ring so you are aware of what is happening. Be prepared for delays.

Q: What about scheduling conflicts within the show?
A: If you are to be exhibiting in a handling class and an obedience class at the same time the handling class takes precedence. Let the ring steward in your obedience ring know where you are. Show times are estimated. Exhibitors are responsible for checking with both ring stewards for actual show times. Judges do not have to hold up classes for a single exhibitor.
