Q: How and where do I get my animal checked in?
A: Check-in of dairy goats will take place between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. 4-H members or a designated person should bring the animals to the show ring beginning at 5:00 p.m. During the check-in process, staff will verify each animal, check registration, completed entry cards and identification papers. Tattoos must be readable at check-in, and no fresh tattoos are allowed.

Q: What do I need for check-in?
A: Bring your completed gray entry cards, original registration papers and stamped health paper to the check-in area. It would be wise to bring your carbon copy of the 4-H beef identification forms with you to the fair in case there are questions.

Q: What about tattoos for goats?
A: Tattoos for dairy goats must be in place and legible by May 15th. Your goat's ears or tails must be clipped and clean by check-in time on Wednesday afternoon. No fresh tattoos will be allowed.

Q: What do I do with the Health Certificate?
A: Health certificates will be checked by the veterinarians in the Iowa State Fair Vet Office. Please take your health paper there to be stamped. Then bring your stamped health paper to the T-shirt table to pick up your T-shirt and exhibitor number at check-in time.

Q: Do we need to do anything with the Food Safety and Quality Assurance certification for state fair?
A: YES, all dairy goat exhibitors must include a copy of their FSQA certification along with their entry form and identification forms.

Q: Do I need a scrapie flock tag?
A: All sexually intact goats must be identified with an individual scrapie flock of origin identification tag or by an official and registered tattoo. This number must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. The certificate of Veterinary Inspection must also include a statement certifying the herd's participation in the scrapie program.

Q: When is the show?
A: The 4-H Dairy Goat Show will be held on Thursday beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m. Animals will be released at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Q: Is there anything special going on after the show?
A: The Iowa Dairy Goat Association will sponsor a pizza party for all 4-H goat exhibitors at 5:00 p.m. Location will be announced at the show.

Q: Where can I park?
A: Lot T parking passes will be available for $6.00 each in the Administration Building. You may purchase them when you arrive, or at the same time that you order your discount tickets. Your extension office will have the discount ticket order form.

Q: What is the Check Out procedure?
A: Unless you already have a parking pass in your vehicle and is on the grounds, a Livestock Load-out pass will be needed to get your pickup and trailer back in the fairgrounds to load out. These will be available from the dairy goat office. Please return these before leaving the grounds. All animals are released on Thursday.
