2013 dates set! February 8-9 at FFA Enrichment Center, DMACC campus, Ankeny!
The 2012 State Volunteer Retreat brought together 4-H volunteers, staff, parents, intermediate and senior 4-H members, and Iowa State University students to network, teach, and learn about innovative programs that bring fresh perspectives and activities to Iowa 4-H programs.
Friday evening, February 10, participants learned how to help 4-H members improve their communication skills and demonstrate them through quality, educational working exhibits. ISU students, staff, and alumni in food science and human nutrition and culinary science provided fun learning experiences.
Saturday morning kicked off with everyone dancing to Interlude! The rest of the day was filled with a variety of workshops and networking opportunities. Check out photos and Interlude dance at our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/iowa4hretreat
New Volunteers registered for the New Volunteer (Club & Clovers) Training and spent the day in a dynamic training to boost their positive youth development knowledge and skills to enable them to support a vibrant 4-H club or Clover Kids group.
The 2012 Retreat was planned and implemented by a committee of 4-H volunteers, hosted by DMACC Continuing Education, and sponsored by ISU Extension and Outreach 4-H and Monsanto. All activities, Friday evening and Saturday, took place at the FFA Enrichment Center on the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Campus in Ankeny. Thanks to the many volunteers and ISU Extension and Outreach staff who led the workshops.
For those of you who attended - thanks for joining us for a great weekend of fun and learning! For those of you who didn't - think about joining us next year! Dates will be posted this summer.
Thanks to Monsanto for their continued support of this volunteer training!
