Blue Ribbon Backups
Creating a Backup using Winzip
|
 |
Create a backup:
- Exit Blue Ribbon on all computers.
- Locate your Data folder. (If you do not know where it is, check the bottom of the BR screen for the Data Path.)
- RIGHT click on your Data folder.
- In the pop-up menu that appears, choose "Add to Data.zip".
- This will create a file called "Data.zip" in the same location as your Data folder. You will need to re-name and move this file in order to have a useful backup.
Rename:
- RIGHT click on Data.zip and choose "Rename".
- Type in your county name and the date: "HarrisonMay06" or "PolkJan07". If the ".zip" was visible on your computer when you changed the name, type it back in.
Move to a new location:
- RIGHT click again on the new file and choose "Cut".
- Open the window for a different location. RIGHT click in a white (unused) space in that window, and choose "Paste".
- (If you have another method to move files from one drive to another, use the one that you are familiar with.)
Send backup to the State Office:
- In Outlook, start a new message to bnibe@iastate.edu,
- Insert|File, locate and select the ".zip" file that you just renamed and moved.
