Tri-State Retention Working Documents (New 4-H Family Coordinator Position example)
In the 1985 Journal of Extension article The Challenge of Retaining 4-H Members, Kirk Astroth mentions the creation of a New 4-H Family Coordinator position at the club level. The new coordinators received training as well as a detailed teaching outline for 6 lessons to be shared with new families. These six lessons were designed to prepare new families for upcoming events before they were overwhelmed by them. Here you will find the coordinator job description, as well as a suggested outline for the new 4-H parent orientations. These are courtesy of Kirk Astroth, former Kansas Area 4-H Specialist and Kansas State University 4-H Youth Development.
