Stitch This! is a 16-hour design challenge in which teams of four youth deconstruct garments and reconstruct them into a new wearable garment that will be modeled in a runway show. The 2011 theme was 'America the Beautiful'. Participants were asked to look to nature, landscapes, and the beauty of America for their inspiration as they competed for a chance to have their design mass produced for Stacey's Prom and Formalwear 2012 Prom Line.

This event is held every year at the Iowa State Fair. The 2012 dates have not yet been determined.

Who can participate?
Design teams are composed of four youth. At least one member of the team must be a 4-H member (it's easy to join 4-H!) Interested individuals are able to apply as an individual, partial or full team. We will combine applicants to make full teams whenever possible.
The Challenge

How to register? Applications will open in Spring 2012 and will be due June 1, 2012.
Once your team has been selected to participate, you will receive a package containing:
- The Stitch This! Team Packet with participation guidelines and additional details
- Forms you will need to fill out and bring with you to the challenge
- One admission ticket to the Iowa State Fair per team member.
2011 Stitch This! Event
The 2011 Stitch This! 4-H Design Challenge was held on August 19-20, at the Iowa State Fair was a smash hit! 9 teams with a total of 46 members were challenged to deconstruct prom dresses and create something entirely new.
