6:30 -8:30 p.m - 4-H Rabbit check-in, Rabbit Carrier Construction Workshop, Grooming shelf and Rabbit First Aid Kit Workshops
7:00 – 9:00 p.m. – Educational Presentations judging, Showmanship and Poster Seminar follows presentation judging
10:00 p.m. – Building closes
Thursday, August 20
7:00 a.m. – Rabbits and posters may arrive
7:00 - 8:30 a.m. – Rabbits and posters check-in
8:30 a.m. - All 4-H rabbits and posters must be in place
9:00 a.m. – Exhibitor and parent meeting at the rabbit judging area
9:30 a.m. - 4-H Rabbit Show
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Rabbit Showmanship
10:00 a.m. – Noon - Poster Judging, rabbit skillathon
Noon – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch break
After Rabbit Judging - Presentation of Showmanship and poster ribbons and awards
5:00 p.m. - 4-H rabbit and poster check-out
6:00 p.m. - All 4-H rabbits must be off the grounds
Q: Where can I park?
A: Lot Q parking passes will be available for $6.00. Lot Q parking lot is located across from the Open Class Rabbit and Poultry Building . You may purchase them when you arrive, or at the same time that you order your discount tickets. Your extension office will have the discount ticket order form.
Q: When is check-in?
A: Rabbit check-in is scheduled from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. You may also check-in rabbits on Thursday between 7:00 and 8:30 a.m. All rabbits and posters must be checked-in by 8:30 a.m. that morning. The show is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
Q: Do we need to do anything with the Food Safety and Quality Assurance certification for state fair?
A: YES, all rabbit exhibitors must include a copy of their FSQA certification along with their entry form and identification forms.
Q: What about my exhibitor number and T-shirt?
A: During the check-in process, you will receive an exhibitor T-shirt. This shirt is to be worn during judging. We encourage you to wear long pants while showing your rabbit.
Q: Do my rabbits need a tattoo?
A: Yes - Be sure your rabbits are properly tattooed before your arrival at the State Fair.
Q: Is there anything else going on?
A: Yes - There will be a showmanship workshop held in the Rabbit and Poultry Building on Wednesday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. This workshop will give you important tips on how to show your rabbit and what the judge will be looking for. We will also be offering a Carrier Construction Workshop on Wednesday evening for those interested. The cost for this workshop for a carrier is $11.00 for a single, $22.50 for a double, and $27.00 for a triple. If interested in this workshop please respond to 1-800-588-7977 code 77 or call 515-432-1489 (after 6 p.m.) by August 1 so that materials can be ordered.
