ISU Extension Sesquicentennial Service Project
Shelby County, June 3, 2007

Iowa State University alumni and Extension staff partnered with the Shelby County Historical Society to mark the ISU Sesquicentennial during the annual Log Cabin Days Celebration at the historical museum in Harlan. The service project here is a special display featuring ISU Extension and 4-H work in Shelby County. The display was created by ISU alumni volunteers.

Dr. Tom Shih, chair of aerospace engineering, was the official ISU representative at the dedication of the service project. Traveling to the museum marked Dr. Shih’s furthest trip west in Iowa. Shelby County was glad to host Dr. Shih and to show him our great community.

Additionally, to mark the sesquicentennial an ISU themed barn quilt will be added at the Shelby County Fair Grounds during the county fair in July.

Local celebration plans have been developed by Shelby County ISU alumni and supporters. The Shelby County ISU Sesquicentennial Committee includes: Bill Buman, Donna Christensen-Mores, Jamie Fahn, Julienne Ferry, Suzanne Goshorn, Shelli Larson, Shawn McLaughlin, Tim Meyer, Jann Reinig, Ron Rosmann and Terry Torneten.
