Roger Fuerstenberg, center, Scott County Extension Council Member,
presents a 150th anniversary plaque to Teresa Haumann from the
Davenport Parks and Recreation Department.
Staff and volunteers surround them. A display of George Washinton Carver
is in the background.
Our 150th Anniversary event was an Extension Showcase for people in
the neighborhood surrounding the Roosevelt Center, which is a renovated
school building that has been turned into a community center and is
working to build programming in the area. Extension offered interactive
displays and activities on George Washington Carver, nutrition, gardening,
teamwork, safety for adults and youth, universal design, handwashing
in Germ City and several skill-a-thons for youth. The Extension Council
wanted to reach a new audience with their community service project
and staff will now become involved with this neighborhood center.
