ISU Sesquicentennial Service Project,
Sac County, July 27, 2007

ISU Extension in Sac County commemorated ISU’s 150th birthday with a great community service project and a dedication ceremony during the Sac County Fair. ISU alumni,  4-H club members and leaders, ISU Extension staff, and various other community volunteers worked together on the construction of seven barn quilts which were erected on the fairground buildings and the ISU Extension office.

The fair celebration was a great chance for all those who have been impacted by ISU, either on campus or through Extension, to share some fond memories. Brenda Behling from the Office of the Provost was on hand to help dedicate the project and present a commemorative plaque which is attached just below one the of the quilts denoting the significance of the project. Kevin Peyton also addressed the group and spoke of the barn quilt project success in Sac County and its impact on our residents and communities. The Barn Quilts of Sac County was a leadership project developed by Kevin and implemented with the help of hundreds of supporters. Cake and refreshments were served by the Sac County Extension Council and staff members and a memorable time was had by all.
