To commemorate Iowa State University's
150th Anniversary, the Delaware County Extension Council donated trees
and shrubs for Manchester's Memory Walk. The Memory
Walk is a segment of a new bikeway/walkway dedicated to memorials and
recognition of important events. Members of Iowa State University Extension's
Master Gardener organization selected and planted special varieties
that symbolized Iowa State University, including:
-
3 Red Prince Weigela shrubs, a variety
introduced by ISU that features rich red flowers;
-
3 Sunrise Forsythia
shrubs, also introduced by ISU, which features yellow foliage;
-
2
Malus Centurion trees, a variety of flowering crabapple with red
blossoms in the summer and leaves turning to yellow in the fall;
-
3
Corkscrew Willow trees, with branches that grow in swirls to represent
the ISU Cyclones.
Shown planting one of the trees commemorating ISU's
150th anniversary are Master Gardeners Mary Ann Poynor and Ed Poynor.
Ed Poynor is also a member of the Delaware County Extension Council. |
